Family Angered After Four-Year-Old Daughter Forgotten On School Bus

Last november the Thompson’s four year old daughter Chloe fell asleep on the bus on the way to school. She was left in the parked bus for 45 minutes until another student found her. The Thompsons just found out about it a few weeks ago from their 10 year old son.

The school never told the parents that their daughter had been abandoned in a bus. The silent treatment isn’t all they’re doing (or not doing, as the case may be) to ignore the problem though. They’ve also canceled two school board meetings that the Thompson’s signed up to speak at.

The Avant Superintendent told the Newschannel 8 reporter that the matter was dealt with properly. Not informing the parents is proper? In this case Chloe wasn’t harmed but under other circumstances she most certainly could have been.

“If it had been a hundred degrees outside, if it was colder than what it was. What would happen if a parent left their child in a car unattended for 45 plus minutes? I think that parent would be in jail.”

At a minimum they would be talking to some people with laminated cards in their wallets. The Thompsons want the negligent driver fired. Personally I’d be more concerned with making sure the broken things in this system were fixed so it didn’t happen again. In either case the silent treatment from the school board certainly isn’t allowing anything productive to happen.
